Copyright and DMCA

Updated October 30, 2026

Chockstone Labs LLC respects copyright and expects the people who use our social media service to do the same. We respond to notices of claimed infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). This page is part of our Terms of Use.

What a notice must include

To be effective under the DMCA, a notice must be in writing and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for the owner.
  2. The copyrighted work you say is infringed or, if one notice covers several works, a representative list of them.
  3. The material you say infringes, with enough information for us to find it, such as the address of the link page, file, or shared link.
  4. Your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Before you send a notice, consider whether the use is fair use or otherwise allowed. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material infringes, or that material was removed by mistake, can be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees.

What we do with a notice

When we receive a notice that meets these requirements, we promptly remove or disable access to the material, tell the person who posted it, and send them a copy of the notice. If a notice leaves out something the law requires, we tell you what is missing where we can.

Counter-notices

If your material was removed after a notice and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send our Copyright Agent a counter-notice. To be effective, a counter-notice must be in writing and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The material that was removed or disabled, and where it appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the United States, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.

When we receive a valid counter-notice, we send a copy to the person who sent the original notice. We restore the material, or access to it, no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice, unless our Copyright Agent first hears that the person who sent the notice has filed a court action to stop the infringement.

Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances, we end the spaces and accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. We may also remove content or suspend a space when we have good reason to believe it infringes, even without a notice.

Posts on other platforms

Posts published through the service live on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, and the other platforms where they were published. To have a post removed from a platform, use that platform’s own copyright process. We act on what we host, such as link pages, uploaded files, and shared links.
